The Cangosta do Estêvão trail

The name of the "Cangosta do Estêvão Trail" is inspired by a pedestrian track that existed in Ribeira de Pena, the setting for the novella Maria Moises. The name "Cangosta do Estevao" (Stephen's Lane) has been adopted here to indicate the route to be followed between the house where Camilo Castelo Branco lived in Seide, and the Church of the Monastery of Landim, or vice versa. The "Trail" serves several interesting purposes: it evokes the novelist's relatives/ descendants, and the people with whom he had personal relationships; it showcases the human and physical landscape of the region that served to inspire the author's literary creations; it promotes physical exercise; and it enables contact with nature and enjoyment of the Minho countryside.
