Headquartered at São Bento Train Station, these entities manage the heritage of train routes and the built heritage of the Portuguese railways.
To build the railway station, the Convent of São Bento de Avé-Maria was demolished, which was the place where Bernardina Amélia, the writer's daughter, was being educated under the care of the nun Isabel Vaz Mourão. Some of Camillian's romantic characters passed through here: for example, Carlota Ângela, the heroine who gives the novel its name.
The station's vestibule was covered with tile panels by Jorge Colaço (1916). This painter was the son-in-law of Tomás Ribeiro, one of Camilo's greatest friends and to whom the novelist dedicated the novel Maria Moisés (1876).
